Information processed by Chantico
Chantico stores device names, room names, Matter node and endpoint identifiers, detected capabilities, device status, scenes, and application settings locally on your Windows PC. This information is used to display and operate your smart home.
Matter commands and discovery traffic are sent between your PC and devices or infrastructure on your local network. Chantico does not require a Chantico cloud account for these features.
Optional activity history
Activity history is optional. When enabled, sensor observations, device events, command results, and automation outcomes are encrypted and stored on this Windows device. Activity history is never sent through telemetry and is not exposed through Chantico’s MCP tools.
You can choose the retention period in Settings. You may explicitly export history to CSV or JSON for your own records. Exported files are not encrypted by Chantico; keep them somewhere safe and review them before sharing.
Camera and QR codes
Camera access is optional and begins only after you choose to scan a Matter QR code. Camera frames and decoded setup payloads are processed locally. Chantico does not upload camera images or Matter setup payloads. You may instead select an image, paste a payload, or enter a numeric setup code.
Files and diagnostics
Chantico accesses files only when you select an image or choose a destination for an exported diagnostic log. Diagnostic logs may contain technical device or network information. They are not transmitted automatically; you decide whether and with whom to share an exported file.
Local AI and developer tools
Chantico can expose an optional local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to compatible applications running under your Windows account. This feature is disabled by default. You choose separately whether local clients may read device and room information, control devices, use scenes, or manage automations.
MCP requests are handled locally through Chantico's background controller. Chantico does not operate a remote MCP service or send MCP requests, device information, room information, or smart-home activity to Chantico-operated servers. A connected MCP client processes information under its own terms and privacy practices.
Website
The Chantico website does not intentionally collect accounts, household information, or smart-home device data. Hosting and security providers may process ordinary request information, such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, and security signals, as needed to deliver and protect the website.
External links and affiliate relationships
The Buy Devices area may open third-party retailer or Chantico website pages in your default browser. Those services process information under their own privacy policies. Chantico will clearly identify affiliate links where a purchase may earn Chantico a commission. The Windows application does not currently collect purchase history.
Data sharing and retention
Chantico does not sell personal information. This version does not transmit locally stored home data to Chantico-operated servers. Local data remains until you edit it, remove it, reset the application, or uninstall it, subject to Windows data-retention behavior.
Security
Chantico limits device and MCP operations to structured application commands and does not expose arbitrary shell access. MCP permissions can be reviewed or disabled in Chantico Settings. Keep Windows, connected AI clients, and device firmware updated, and protect access to your Windows account.
Children
Chantico is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. Chantico does not knowingly collect children's personal information.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change when Chantico adds features such as optional online services, catalog updates, analytics, or accounts. The effective date and published policy will be updated before those features are released.
